TUTTY Mr. Omer Dennis Tutty, born April 10, 1924 passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital after a brief illness on February 17, 2006 at the age of 81. Omer was born in Edmonton, Alberta on April 10, 1924. He later served in the Canadian Army overseas in WWII. Upon his return Omer was employed in the oil industry throughout Western Canada with Regent Drilling. On December 1, 1951 Omer married Rose Starchuk and in 1955 they moved to Blackfalds. Omer was employed by City of Red Deer Public Works and then from 1958-1987 served as Public Works Foreman for the Town of Blackfalds. During his life in Blackfalds he was a 25 year Charter Member of the Lions Club, Charter Member of 28 years for the Blackfalds Volunteer Fire Department and was very active throughout the community in many activities. Omer is survived by his loving wife Rose of 54 years; his son Wayne (Dianne) Tutty of Blackfalds, his step-granddaughter Shannon (Gene and sons Jagger and Brady) Howorko; daughter Theresa (Larry) Frebrowski of Airdrie, his "favorite" granddaughter Jodanna Frebrowski of Medicine Hat; his two sons Darcy (Valerie) Starchuk and stepson Christopher of Namaio, BC, and Kim (Amy) Starchuk and daughter Tiffany of Saudi Arabia. He is also survived by numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, as well as his morning and afternoon "coffee buddies". Omer was predeceased by his son Troy Starchuk, his mother Doris, and two brothers Jack and Bill. Funeral Services will be held at Wilson's Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, Alberta on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Blackfalds Cemetery. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #101, 5208-53 Ave., Red Deer, Alberta T4N 5K2.
