V.E.J. (Jim)

Jim Caddy of Red Deer passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the age of 92 years. Jim was born and raised in Pontypridd, South Wales on August 6, 1921. After joining the R.A.F., he came to Canada in 1941, stationed at Penhold, where he met and married Jessie Barwick of Rimbey in 1943. After James Jr. was born in 1944, they returned to Wales where John was born, and in 1948, they returned to Red Deer permanently where Jerry Gene Geoff and Joan were born. After working as a carpenter for several years, he began his own concrete business, where he remained until his retirement in 1995. He and Jessie remained in the house he built by hand in 1952 and he continued to live there after her passing in 2002. Jim will be lovingly remembered by sons; James (Cheryl) of 100 Mile House, BC, John (Colleen) of Red Deer, Jerry (Marg) of Eckville, Gene (Jan) of Red Deer, Geoff (Deb) of Red Deer, daughter Joan (John) Donald of Red Deer, seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters; Vera Peachy of Ross on Sea, England, Violet Dixon of Rhydyfelin, S. Wales, and Rhoda Hughes of Cardiff, S. Wales. Jim was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years Jessie, sister Valerie, and brother Vernon. A private family service will be held at a later date.
