Val UNGER

UNGER, Val 1927- 2008 Mrs. Valerie "Val" Ada May Unger passed away peacefully at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Val was born on March 1, 1927 at Dawlish, Devon, England. She was raised in Plymouth, Devon, England where she met and married her husband Jim Unger. She then came to Canada in 1946 as a War Bride and moved to Castor, Alberta to be with her husband. They spent a number of years in the North West Territories of Canada before finally settling in Red Deer in 1968. Val is survived by her children, Dale James (Ellen) Unger of Salmon Arm, British Columbia and Maria Ann Day of Red Deer, Alberta, a sister, Marie Graham of Bristol, England, a sister-in-law, Ardena (Herb) Zinger of Castor, Alberta. Also two grandchildren Nina Kelly of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, and Shawn (Winnie) Unger of Nepean, Ontario, four great grandchildren Sheena and Shane Kelly of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, James and Richard Unger of Nepean, Ontario and a great, great grandchild Tegan Lynn Kelly of North Battleford, Saskatchewan as well as numerous other family members. Val was predeceased by her husband Jim, both of her parents and two brothers Leslie and Stanley. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Church at 4929-54 Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday July 9, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Rilla Summerville officiating. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. If desired, memorial tributes in Val's honour may be donated to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind 4, 5015-48 Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 1S9 or to St. Luke's Anglican Church 4929-54 Street, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 2G7.
