1942-2021 ~ Mrs. Valera Mae Bartusek, beloved wife of Mr. Gordon Bartusek of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the age of 78 years.
Valera was born at Lacombe, Alberta to Muriel Graydon and Orson Burrows. She was raised on the farm in her younger years, and then moved to Clive, Alberta, and finally went on to Red Deer. Her early schooling was taken at Clive and she received her High School Education at Lacombe. Valera received her Degree of Psychiatric Nursing at Michener Centre and Red Deer College.
On June 9, 1962, she married Gordon Bartusek and they spent fifty-eight loving years together. The couple had one son, Wayne. Valera worked for thirty years at the Michener Centre, and the Office of the Public Guardian.
She enjoyed camping, Salmon Fishing on the West Coast and Curling. After an early retirement, she and Gordon were fortunate to spend many wonderful winters in Arizona.
Valera will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband of fifty-eight years, Gordon Bartusek of Red Deer, her son, Wayne (Dana) Bartusek and her three grandchildren, Thomas, William and Wyatt Bartusek, all of Killam, Alberta.
She will also be sadly missed by her sister, Janice (Darell) Gilmour of Parkland County, Alberta and her brother, John (Marge) Burrows of Oliver, British Columbia; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
