July 1, 1953 - December 20, 2018
Valerie was born July 1, 1953 in Elk Point, AB and grew up in St. Paul. She attended and graduated from NAIT in Edmonton where she met the love of her life Guy Foisy. They married in 1973, lived briefly in Vancouver and Calgary and eventually settled in Red Deer to raise their family. Valerie, 65, passed away peacefully at Red Deer Hospice on December 20, 2018.
She was predeceased by her parents Helen and Mike Kovach. She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her husband Guy Foisy of Red Deer; children Mike (Tammy) and Monique (Reuben); grandchildren Noah, Jaiden, and Theo; sisters Karen (Horst), Alta (Gerald) and dear family and friends.
Valerie worked in administration for much of her life. She finished up her career working for Recreation, Parks & Culture. She loved spending her summers camping at Floating Stone with her family. She was a great cook (begrudgingly) and her family enjoyed her traditional Ukrainian food. She enjoyed baking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was very crafty and could always be found doing needlepoint, pysanky, or some other craft in the evening. She was an amazing mother, Baba and loving wife and will forever be in our hearts.
A celebration of Valerie's life will be held on January 25, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Eventide Funeral Home, 4820-45th Street, Red Deer, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society.
