October 21, 1962 - June 17, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mr. Vasile 'Puiu' Firu, after a grueling battle with cancer, surrounded by his family and loved ones on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the age of 57 years.
Puiu was born on October 21, 1962 in Arad, Romania. After graduating from University, he worked as a Professional Engineer in a large plant. In 1990, he met and married the love of his life, Vio. After seven long years, a miracle baby came into their life, their daughter, Anamaria.
Not too long after, Puiu moved with his family to Red Deer in May of 2000. Puiu worked hard for his family, doing different jobs until 2010, when he started his career as a Bus Driver for the City of Red Deer; where he enjoyed interacting with his colleagues and patrons. He had a big heart and pleasant personality, brightening the heart of anyone he connected with. His sense of humor and love of life left everyone around him filled with wonderful memories.
Being an outdoor person, he enjoyed spending time in the garden, planting trees and flowers, playing with his dog Jesse and going on vacation, with his family. He lives on through his mother, Maria, his wife, Vio, his daughter, Anamaria (Jonathan), his mother-in-law, Viorica, his beloved uncle, Dumitru Coman and his daughter, Geanina and her family, his brother-in-law, Constantin (Codruta) and their children, Dan and Julia and Adrian Nadaban and his family; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, friends and colleagues. Puiu was predeceased by his unborn son, Alexandru, his father, Vasile, his aunt, Mirela, his father-in-law, Constantin and many other dear family members.
The Family would like to extend a huge thank you to the Staff on Unit 32P and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, for going above and beyond in their wonderful care! He will never be forgotten from the hearts of the people he touched.
