March 27, 1930 - June 16, 2018
Velma passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness at the age of 88.

Velma is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Lee, infant son Leslie Alan and great grand daughter Sarah Baker. She is survived by her five children; Aaron Armstrong, Sandy (Irvin) Hawkings, Rob (Brenda) Scott, Dianne (Don) Baker and Bruce (Brenda) Scott. She will be missed by her 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, brother in law Keith Scott as well as many friends and neighbors.

Velma loved her large family and gave strength and love to each and every one of them. Not only did she raise 5 children while helping with the running of the farm, she also taught kindergarten 18 years at the Bentley School, while taking university courses. She was always glad to hear about her former students and her creativity and passion for her work shone brightly in the community.

Velma loved reading shopping, swimming, dinner out with friends and family, a glass of white wine and visiting with the Bentley Red Hatters, all of which she enjoyed right up until her passing. She "splashed" joy to anyone she came in contact with.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, 200 325 Manning Rd NE, Calgary, Alberta, T2E 2P5. As per Velma's request there will be no funeral service. Funeral details will be posted at a later date at www.eventidefuernalchapel.com.
