Vera Jacobsen passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Michener Extendicare facility on Sept. 11, 2014, at the age of 97. Vera was born and raised near Speers, SK and later moved to the Brooks, AB area where she married, raised her family, farmed and started her retirement years. In 2004 she moved to Springbrook to live with her daughter and be closer to family. In 2009 she moved to the Red Deer Parkvale Lodge and enjoyed her life there. She had recently moved to the Michener facility after some medical complications. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers and sister, husbands Fred Bodie and Chris Jacobsen; and son Marinus Jacobsen. She will be greatly missed by her children, Kirsten (Horst) Fandrey, Grant (Helen) Bodie, Karen Christensen, Gordon (Heather) Bodie, Glorene (David) Ellis and Neala (Walter) Cook; daughter-in-law Merrilyn Jacobsen; 14 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 2.00 p.m. at Red Deer Funeral Home, 6150 - 67 Street Red Deer. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gideons.
