Violet MARTIN

MARTIN, Violet Olive ‘Vi’ Martin of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Valley Park Manor Nursing Home, Red Deer on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the age of 98 years. Vi was born on May 16, 1907 at Farmington, Wisconsin, United States. She was a wonderful, loving and delightful lady who was a pleasure to all she met. Her twinkling eyes and bright cheery smile warmed the hearts of all those who loved her. Vi stayed very active and enjoyed golfing until the age of 89. She loved to garden and grow lovely flowers in the summers, go bowling and her special hobby was tinkering and repairing things. Vi was the original ‘Red Green’. Vi, our wonderful mother, grandmother and friend will be very sadly missed but we will cherish the many beautiful memories we have of her deep in our hearts for an eternity. Vi leaves to mourn her loss, her loving children, Dave and his wife, Dot Martin of Elnora, Alberta, Ken and his wife, Lil Martin of Leduc, Alberta, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Vi was predeceased by her parents and two brothers. A Public Celebration of Vi’s Life will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapels, 4820 – 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, November 18, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Vi’s honour may be made directly to the Valley Park Manor Nursing Home, 5505 – 60th Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 4W2 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 6, 5015 – 48th Street, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 1S9.
