Vivian MITTEN

MITTEN Vivian Elaine 1926 - 2009 "Woodie" as her friends knew her, passed away August 14, 2009 at the Red Deer Hospital at the age of 83 years, although she always claimed she was only 29. Woodie was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She trained and worked as a nurse before her marriage to Bert Mitten. Woodie and Bert lived in Colville before moving from Saskatchewan to Red Deer in 1959.  She was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed playing bridge and mahjong. Woodie is survived by her daughter, Amy Mitten-Stevens; her two grandsons, Bennett and Mitchell Stevens; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Bert; her son, Rodney; her daughter, Marilyn; her grandson, Neil; as well as her sister, Lorraine McGowan. The family will be celebrating her life privately. At her request there will not be a Funeral/Memorial Service. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta (10531 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T5H 4K1) or the charity of their choice.  Cremation services have been arranged at the Red Deer Funeral Home & Crematorium (67 Street) Chapel.
