von Krogh (Petz) - Uta Beate It is with sadness we announce that Uta passed away peacefully and with family present at the Pine Ridge Continuing Care Facility at Stettler on the 11 of April 2009 at the age of 85 years. Uta was also known to family and friends as Mu and Omu. On the 28 August 1923 Uta was born to Walter and Edith Petz in Berlin, Germany. She was raised and schooled in Berlin. Uta was married to Gerhard von Krogh on the 27 January 1946 and to this union was born two sons, Friedrich Reinhard and Georg Henning. In March of 1952 Uta and the family immigrated to Westville, Nova Scotia. In late spring of 1956 the family travelled across Canada in a pick up truck to settle in Whonnock, BC. Uta worked at Fuller Watson Department store and as a receptionist at a medical clinic until she retired. In 2001 Uta moved to Red Deer where she volunteered for many organizations. On the 30 January 2009 Uta moved to Stettler where she lived until her passing. Uta's interests included hiking, biking, going on camping trips, travelling to Germany and Hawaii, gardening, silver smithing, volunteering for the Red Deer Hospital, Diabetes Education Centre and Canadian Blood Services and the list goes on. Uta was predeceased by her parents Walter and Edith, her loving husband of 53 years, Gerhard, younger sister Gudula and brother Michael. Uta is survived by her sons Fred (Janie) of Stettler, AB and Henning (Judith) New Denver, BC, grandchildren Colleen of Olds, AB., Erika of Sudbury, ON., and Angela of Canmore, AB., Julia (Warren) Flesaker of Nakusp, BC., Eric of Vancouver BC, and Megan (Patrick) Martin of Invermere, BC., and great grandchildren Morgan and Averyll Flesaker. Uta will be laid to rest at the Whonnock Cemetery to be with her husband and brother at a later date. Uta will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice.
