Wayne was born in Rimbey, Alberta to Alfred & Hannah Matson. He was raised on a farm near Bluffton, AB.
In January 1981 Wayne was married to his wife Elizabeth. They were blessed with two children - Mark & Rebecca. Wayne & Elizabeth lived in the Red Deer area until 2017 when they moved to Ontario to be closer to Mark, his wife Melissa and their four children.
Wayne was a loving husband and an exceptional father and grandfather. Wayne was well known and respected for his integrity and knowledge in the roof truss industry. He is also remembered for his many years of coaching and mentoring within the Sylvan Lake Hockey Association.
He loved fishing and spending time on his boat out on the lake. Wayne was a quiet man, deeply committed to his Christian faith and dedicated to his family.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him but yet we rejoice in knowing that he is with his Lord and Savior. Wayne was laid to rest at West Zion Mennonite Church in Carstairs, AB, Jan 3, 2022.
