January 5, 2008

FRIESEN Wendy Who Am I? "I am God's child. God is my Father, Jesus is my Savior, The Holy Spirit is my comforter, Heaven is my home, The Bible is my guide, And the angels are my companions." Selwyn Hughes Wendy Friesen of Eckville, passed away suddenly on January 2, 2008 at the age of 44 years. Wendy Lynn Friesen (nee Meyers) was born September 19, 1963 in Eckville to Connie and Joyce Meyers, the youngest of five children. She grew up on South Slope Farm at Withrow. She married Darrell Friesen October 3, 1981 and moved to Red Deer after graduating from David Thompson High School. They had three children Stacey, Cheryl and Nathan. When their youngest was one year old, they moved north of Eckville where they raised cattle and resided at the time of her passing. She was very involved in the Leslieville church teaching Sunday school, vacation Bible school and Discovery club throughout the years. She loved spending time on the piano and with her horse, but always her family was most important to her. Wendy was a full time Mother and homemaker until 1994 when she returned to school to also be a teacher's aide. For the next eight years, she worked at the Rimbey Public School, and her passion for teaching children grew. In 2006 she graduated with her Education degree. She then worked at Third Academy in Red Deer with special needs children, followed by her current position at Condor/Leslieville coordinating individual program plans. Wendy leaves to mourn and will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of 26 years Darrell Friesen; her beloved children Stacey, Cheryl and Nathan of Red Deer; her loving parents Connie and Joyce Meyers of Withrow and Albert and Elvera Friesen of Red Deer.
