December 30, 1926 - February 2, 2021
Michael, Wilfred John (Bud) passed away peacefully at Red Deer Regional Hospital on February 2, 2021, at the age of 94. Bud was born in Kerrobert, SK on December 30, 1926 and lived in the Smiley area on his father's farm. He received his schooling there and, in his spare time, spent many hours as a goaltender for local hockey teams.
In 1946 the family moved to Haynes, AB and it was there that Bud met Hazel Ralston. They were married in 1950 and celebrated their 68th anniversary just prior to her passing in May 2018.
Bud had a long career in the oil pipeline industry, working in Redwater, AB and in Carnduff and Estevan, SK. They returned to Alberta in 1974 and in 1979 moved into their dream home "Manadon" (Irene Parlby's former residence) just outside Alix. They spent almost 33 years in that location, tending their prolific gardens and welcoming friends and family.
In 2012 they moved to Aspen Ridge in Red Deer where they enjoyed socializing with friends both old and new. Bud's gentle artistic spirit can be seen in the many paintings and refinished furniture pieces that he created. He had a keen sense of humour and was dubbed the "pun king" by his family.
Bud leaves to celebrate his life his children Patrick (Janet Moodie), Rae Marie McDonald (Doug, deceased), Laurel Michael, Clary (Holly), five grandchildren, and three great- grandchildren.
He is also survived by his stepmother Lucille Michael, and half-brothers Harley (Mary, deceased) and Donald (Ilene) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bud was predeceased by his parents, Norman in 2001 and Felda Michael in 1934.
Decisions respecting an informal celebration of Bud's life will be made at a later time.
