William CROSS

CROSS, William William (Bill) Charles Cross passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on December 4, 2004 at the age of 82. Bill is survived by his loving wife Betty June, his sons; Randy (Linda) of Fox Creek, AB, Barry (Lynne) of Salmon Arm, BC and Gregory of Golden, BC, his daughters; Julie (Norm) Roe of Red Deer, AB and Jacquie (Dennis) Charlton of Cochrane, AB; his grandchildren, Jennifer and Damon Horsfall, Waterloo, ON., Marla and Jason DeGroot, Cambridge, ON., Shaun and Nicole Cross, Fox Creek, AB, Breanne Cross and Coby Cross, Salmon Arm, BC, Chris Roe, Red Deer, AB, Jeff and Kerri Roe, Red Deer, AB, Michelle Charlton and Patrick Charlton of Cochrane, AB. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, step-mother-in-law, Anne Aitcheson, step-brother-in-law Richard (Fran) Cooke and family of Calgary, AB. He was pre-deceased by his parents William and Dorothy Cross. Born May 13, 1922 in West-Tadcaster, England, Bill immigrated to Canada in 1923, where he grew up in Lethbridge, AB. Bill served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1942 to 1946 with the 18th Armored Car Regiment, Signal Corps, after which he returned to Lethbridge. He married Betty June Culler, September 29, 1948 and moved to Hanna, AB, where he owned and operated Bill Cross MenÕs Shop with locations in Hanna, Oyen and Drumheller for over 35 years. Hanna was their home for 51 years and was the birthplace of all five children. While in Hanna, Bill served on the School and United Church Boards, PDDGM of the Masonic Order, Past Patron of the Eastern Star, member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Coach and GM of the Hanna Rams Senior football team and was very involved in minor and junior hockey. After retiring Bill spent twelve wonderful years raising and showing miniature horses with the help of his wife and family. He enjoyed golfing and curling and since moving to Red Deer was currently pursuing his new found passion for music. BillÕs smile and witty humor left a deep impression on many and touched the hearts and lives of all who had met him in business and friendship. He will be deeply missed and forever in the hearts of all who loved him. A Celebration of BillÕs life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 Ð 67A Street, Red Deer, AB on Thursday, December 9th, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Brenda Kersell officiating.
