Bill Dancocks passed away on May 22, 2014 at Grandview Care Centre, Edmonton at the age of 85 years. Bill is survived by his loving wife Lorraine; son Tom; daughters Carol and Donna; grandsons Jerrit, Curtis and Greg. He was predeceased by his parents Elsie and George; eldest son Dan and daughter Patti. Bill was born in Red Deer, but grew up in Calgary, attended Connaught and Balmoral Schools as well as Crescent Heights High. He started work with Alberta Government Telephones in 1948 and apprenticed as a cable-splicer, in 1950 and then married his long time girlfriend, Lorraine in 1951. Bill accepted an offer from Bill Mallen, Outside Plant Engineer, to transfer to Edmonton, to become an O.P.E. associate. He progressed to 3rd level management and retired after 35 years, in 1983. After retiring, Bill and Lorraine moved to Sylvan Lake, Bentley and Red Deer before returning to Edmonton in 2003. Bill loved camping, bowling, golfing, curling and hunting geese. While living in Bentley, Bill drove school bus for 3 years. A Memorial Service for Bill will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Hainstock's Funeral Home, 9810-34 Avenue Edmonton, AB In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted in his name to the Edmonton S.P.C.A.
