William David Shandera passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at home at the age of 67 years.

Born and raised in Alberta, the son of James Robert and Grace Annette (Langevin) Shandera, he had been a resident of many towns, especially Red Deer and area. In his early years, Bill was a high school, college and post college athlete in basketball, swimming, running and football. He won many awards, including Red Deer Advocate's Athlete of the Year. Bill invented several things that gained professional approval though not commercial success. He also wrote stories, articles and poems.

Bill leaves his mother, Grace; uncles John and George Langevin; sister Joyce (Douglas) Good; niece Diana Good; nephews Daniel (Laura) Good, and Matthew Good; grandnephews Jack and Emmett Good, and Oliver King; grandniece Wren Good; and many close and life-long friends.

A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Pineridge Community Centre, 6024 Rundlehorn Drive NE, Calgary, T1Y 2X1.
