Davidson, William

1933 - 2021

Mr. William Robert 'Bill' Davidson passed away peacefully, on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the age of 87 years. Bill was born on November 3, 1933 in Lacombe, Alberta to John and Mae Davidson. In 1958, Bill married his wife, Shirley (Hand) and then they moved to their current farm in 1966. Bill loved farming, which he did his entire life. He also had a passion for the outdoors and his animals, especially his cats. He enjoyed his trips to Nova Scotia, particularly Peggy's Cove and to Racine, Wisconsin, to the Case Factory; as well as visiting family in Mission and Abbotsford, British Columbia. He enjoyed being in the field and watching the crops grow. His pride and joy were his 1952 Oliver Tractor that is still on his farm, and his 1947 Dodge Coupe. Bill also enjoyed welding and operating his D7 Cat; helping his neighbors when he could with their projects. Bill loved the area of Haynes/Satinwood; where he made many lifelong friends and served on the Haynes Community Hall Board for many years. He enjoyed visiting with the neighbors and loved to talk farming and the weather with anyone who stopped by, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Bill loved to curl in the winter, and curled in the Farmer's Bonspiel for fifty-six years in a row, winning twice. Bill was a devoted husband to Shirley. They were married for fifty-five years, before she passed away in 2014. He was also a devoted father and grandfather, and enjoyed reminiscing with history books and telling stories. Bill was able to remain on the farm that he cherished, thanks to his many caregivers, Joy, Donna, Irish, Mia, Kristel, Tess and many others, who supported him and cared for Shirley. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his children, Darrell (Karen), Dave (Robyne) and Marlene (Terry) Capton; his eight grandchildren, Cory (Briana) Staples, Jamie Staples, Kimberley Davidson, Brenden Davidson, Kaden Davidson, Brooke Capton, Brittney (Hans) Deutscher and Luke Capton; and his two great grandchildren, Ava and Logan Staples. He will also be sadly missed by numerous family members and dear friends. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley; his parents, John and Mae; a brother, Harvey (Audrey) and a sister, Lorene (Melvin) Homme. A Private Family Interment will be held at a later date. If desired, Memorial Donations in Bill's honor may be made directly to the Huntington Society of Canada at www.huntingtonsociety.ca. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
