William HORNE

HORNE William "Bill" May 14, 1921 - Mar. 11, 2009 Bill passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Wednesday, March 11th, 2009 at the age of 87 years. He was born in Wetaskiwin, AB to James and Margaret Horne on May 14th, 1921. Bill grew up in the Red Deer area and served in WWII with the 3rd Armoured Regiment and the 5th Canadian Armoured Division while serving in Italy, France, Holland and Belgium; upon returning, he opened an auto body shop. He later sold his shop and bought a farm in the Burnt Lake District. He then met and married Ruby Thomas on December 15th, 1962. Upon retirement, after Ruby's death, he had many enjoyable years riding out west with his family and friends. He used to go in everyday and have coffee at the Bower Mall. In his last year, his health failed and he went to reside at Ashlea Cottage in Red Deer. He leaves to mourn his passing his son, Dale (Lorna) Thomas and family; daughter, Donna (Victor) Adams and family; 6 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Harold (Joyce) Horne and family and Barry (Lorna) Brown and family; sisters, Margaret Hall and family and Grace Pimm and family, and sister-in-law, Ilene Brown and Family. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife, Ruby Horne (on Dec 15, 1978); father-in-law, Carl Pearson (on Dec. 12, 1999); his parents James and Margaret Horne; brothers, Roy Horne (in 1963), and Doug Brown (in May 2008); brothers-in-law, Archie Pimm (in Oct 2002) and Don Hall (in May 2005). A Celebration of Life for the late Mr. Bill Horne will be held on Tuesday, March 17th, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Red Deer Funeral Home (6150 67 Street, Red Deer).
