HOWSON William Robinson Mar. 24, 1928 - Aug. 8, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family of Bill Howson of Gull Lake, Alberta announce his passing after a lengthy illness. Left to miss him so very much are Beth, his dearly beloved wife of 55 years, his greatly loved children; Joan (Jeff) McMurray, Bruce Howson and Martha Howson, as well as his precious grandchildren Gavin (Wendy) Verschuren and Courtney Verschuren and great grandson Marcus. Bill is also survived by his dear sister Isabel Wynne, brothers and sisters-in-law Margaret and Ed Kemp and Robert and Doreen Newton, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his father Chief Justice W.R. Howson, his mother Jane Howson, and his sister Margaret Craig. Although he started teaching after working in sales, the 19 years he spent in the classroom touched many lives and brought him great joy. During Bill’s retirement, he enjoyed traveling, gardening, and being active in the Gull Lake Community where he served 6 years as mayor. Bill was a generous man, both publicly and privately; he did his best to help others. Funeral Services will be held at the St. Andrew's United Church, 5226 51 Ave., Lacombe Alberta, on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Breton Plot Matching Fund Endowment, Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Home Economics, University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB.
