March 5, 1923 - January 7, 2020
William Gordon Moore was born in Winnipeg, MB on March 5, 1923. He passed away peacefully at his care residence in Calgary on January 7, 2020. Gordon served our country in WWII from 1943-1945 as a paratrooper with the First Canadian Parachute Battalion in Belgium, England & Normandy; and then after the war as a rifleman with the infantry until 1951. After his service he relocated to Australia where he practiced as a psychiatric nurse for over 20 years.
Gordon was the consummate bachelor well into his 60's until he met the love of his life Eileen (Hart) and they settled in Red Deer enjoying life and each other until Eileen's passing in 1993. Gordon had one other love that he waited his life for, and that was his Yellow Labrador "Sandy" who was a true companion after Eileen left him.
Gordon enjoyed life and was an active member of his communities with Shriners and Free Masons, he enjoyed hunting fowl, travelling, reading, and was an active member of the Silver Sharks Senior Swim Club into his 80's. Gordon was a true character and if in his presence you could be assured to be amused, he always had a story, he was always full of laughter and if he could "stir the pot" in any way he certainly would.
Gordon was predeceased by his wife Eileen, brothers Cameron and Glenn and his parents Jessie and Charles. Gordon's final resting place will be in Red Deer with his wife Eileen. Condolences can be left for the family at www.eventidefuneralchapels.com
