WINTER Mr. Donald “Dan” Winter, beloved husband of Mrs. Jean Winter of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at the age of 81 years. Dan is survived by his loving wife Jean and four children: Donna (Ken) Weik of Red Deer, Pat (Kevin) Walker of Veteran, Keith (Connie) Winter of New Norway and Bill (Brenda) Winter of Red Deer. His memory will be treasured by his grandchildren: Greg (Andrea) Weik, Danny (Melissa) Weik, Alan (Penny) Walker, Sandra (fiancé’ Tanner) Walker, Neil Winter (friend Chantel) and Bryan Winter (friend Carmen); step-grandchildren Ian, Meghan and Sarah Tomalty as well as by his great-grandchildren: Boston and Hudson Walker and Avery Jon Weik. Dan’s memory will be further treasured by his sister, Jean Lawrence of Red Deer as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Dan was predeceased by his parents, William and Emily Winter as well as by two sisters Mildred Layden and Ruth Gregg. He was also predeceased by his brother Ken Winter and nieces, Carol and Karen Lawrence.Dan and Jean lived most of their lives in the Red Deer area, raising their family and operating a road construction business. Dan was a lifetime member of the Elks Club # 85. Dan and Jean moved to the Bentley area onto a hobby farm in 1980 before returning to Red Deer in 1990.Those wishing to pay their respects to the late Mr. Dan Winter are welcome to gather at the Parkland Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 from 12:00 noon until 12:50 p.m. for a time of visitation. Funeral Services for Mr. Dan Winter will be conducted from the Chapel of the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67A Street, Red Deer, AB on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Mrs. Shealagh McClelland officiating. Interment will follow at the Alto Reste Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Dan Winter may be directed to Palliative Care at the David Thompson Health Region Foundation, P.O. Bag 5030, Red Deer, AB T4N 6R2 or to the charity of donor’s choice. Sympathies can be forwarded to the family at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. In living memory of the late Mr. Dan Winter, a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park.
