With JENSEN

March 23, 2005

JENSEN With great sorrow it is announced that Mr. James “Jim” Alexander Bain Jensen of Red Deer, formerly of Rimbey, Alberta, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Saturday, March 19, 2005 at the age of 87 years. Jim was born on April 27, 1917 in Stettler, Alberta and moved with his family to the Ponoka district in 1929, where they began a long-standing dairy business. In 1966, they moved to the Red Deer area where Jim obtained his real estate licence and sold properties in the Central Alberta region. Jim developed and sold the family property that later became known as Poplar Ridge Estates near Red Deer. In 1981, Jim, along with his mother and his brother, Don relocated to a farm in the Eckville area. Jim was united in marriage to Gladys Jaffray in 1993, and they moved to Rimbey. He became a beloved member of Gladys’ family. In 2004, Jim and Gladys moved to Victoria Park in Red Deer, where Jim resided until his passing. Jim’s interests in life were diverse. He had a passion for reading, and was a self-taught historian. Unfortun-ately, several strokes left him unable to speak in the past few years. Jim loved music, poetry, gardening, and growing prize dalhia’s. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. For years, Jim collected antiques and would entertain visitors for hours by describing his many treasures. He was a member of the Red Deer and District Museum and donated many antiques and artifacts to them over the years. Jim’s bible was well-read and he was known as a very christian man, and a good servant to the Lord. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Gladys; and his stepchildren, Lyle (Sherry) Jaffray of Calgary; Bev (Duane) Young of Marwayne, Alberta; Sharon (Rodney) Wilkins of Bentley; and Lynn (Greg) Markowski of Edmonton; as well as ten grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. He will also be lovingly remembered by his cousins, William (Betty Lou) Weir of Edmonton and Margaret Andrekson of Edmonton, and their families; in addition to many other relatives and friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents; one brother, Don Jensen in 2002; and one stepson, Leslie Jaffray. Funeral Services in Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at the Rimbey Church of the Nazarene, Rimbey on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Ron Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey. The Family wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Nawrot and all the staff at the Rimbey Hospital for their wonderful care and support.
