PROUD With a sad and heavy heart, we announce the passing of Lauralyn Dawn Proud on February 20, 2006 in Red Deer AB after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Lauralyn's strength of character, love of life, family, song, will be sorely missed. We take solace in knowing that Lauralyn no longer suffers or is burdened with life's trials and tribulations. All who knew her, gain strength in knowing of her love and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and we are further comforted in the assurance that she has her place reserved in heaven at our Lord's Table. Lauralyn was born March 27th 1963 in Lacombe AB, where she attended Parkview Adventist Academy and later, Canadian University College, earning a BSc in Biology. She resided in Calgary for 10 years before returning to Lacombe were she worked for Ashley Furniture as a Customer Relations Consultant. Lauralyn was very active within the Red Deer Seventh-day Adventist Church and pursued her passion for song in many venues, most recently as a member of "Highest Praise" a ladies a cappella ensemble. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents George and Ella Campbell, paternal grandparents Art and May Proud, biological grandparents James and Janet Grewcutt and her uncle Angus Campbell. She is survived by her loving and devoted parents Ted and Ruth Proud of Red Deer AB, Sister Heather Calkins, brother-in-law Jeffrey, niece Dianna, nephew Alexander of Calgary, as well as Brother Quentin Proud, sister-in-law Darlene and niece Hanna of Nanaimo BC. Also, she will be sadly missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who loved her so very much. Services will be held Saturday February 25, 2006 2:30-4:00 p.m. at the Red Deer Seventh-day Adventist Church. In lieu of flowers, the Proud family asks that a donation be made to the Adventist Development Relief Agency on behalf of Lauralyn Proud.
