WOYCHYSHYN – Verda Sept. 16, 1925-Jan. 3, 2007 Mrs. Verda Woychyshyn (McKinlay) passed away at the Red Deer Hospital on January 3, 2007. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Tony Woychyshyn; daughter, Shirley (Dan) Rutschke of Red Deer and their children, Dwayne (Wanda), Denise (Todd); son-in -law, Alan Churchill and children Tammy, Tracey & Tanya; son, Tom (Edith) McKinlay of Sylvan Lake and their children, Tom Jr. (Amy), Perry (Patti), Bobby, Kelly (Heidi); son, Marvin McKinlay from Sylvan Lake, son, Tony (Linda) McKinlay from Red Deer and their children, Jamie (Holly), Christina, also Tony’s children Cindy and Justin, son, Jack (Lynn) McKinlay of Consort, AB and their children, Jaclyn, Jason, Curtis and Justin; sisters, Mary Wallner of Red Deer, Elsie Painter of Elnora and brothers, Bob (Elsie) Lee of Innisfail and Ken (Sandra) Lee, Red Deer; Brother-in-law Marshall (Sharon) Woychyshyn from Okanagon Falls, B.C., Steve Stayko of Penticton, B.C., Joe (Ellen) Woychyshyn, Wally (Nelly) Woychyshyn, Velma Woychyshyn and Mary Melcosky all of Minnedosa, Manitoba. She also leaves to cherish her memory 19 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and May Lee, her 1st husband, Tom McKinlay (1951), daughter, Marlene Churchill, brothers, Basil and Percy Lee, sister, Betty Buehler, grandchild, Kenneth Rutschke, brother-in-law, Phil Walner, sister and brother-in-law Kay (Frank) Baker, sister-in-law, Sophie Woychyshyn and brother-in-laws Mike and John Woychyshyn and Paul Melcosky. Verda was born in Elnora, Alberta where she attended school and worked on the family farm until she met and married Tom McKinlay and they moved to Huxley, Alberta where Shirley, Marlene and Tom Jr. were born. Tom passed away in 1951. Verda met Tony Woychyshyn in 1956 and they moved to Innisfail where Marv, Tony and Jack were born. In 1965 Tony, Verda and family moved to the farm near Sylvan Lake where she resided until her passing. Verda loved the farm and the cows, chickens, dogs and cats. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed her family very much and loved to have them come to visit. She was an active ball player as well as coach, she also loved to take the boys to their hockey games and enjoyed bowling, dancing and going to Bingo before a stroke that suddenly left her paralyzed in 1994. She was an avid Oiler fan and loved to watch them play and have the family members who aren’t Oilers fans tease her about them. Verda will be lovingly remembered in the hearts of her family and friends. A funeral service will be held at the Alliance Church in Sylvan Lake, Alberta on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at the Sylvan Lake Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Verda’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
