Zoli

Zoli Lokos of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on December 27, 2012 at the age of 75 years. Zoli is lovingly remembered by his life partner, Velda Calvert; stepsons, Ken Calvert of Red Deer, Alberta and Kevin Calvert of Querétaro, Mexico; three grandchildren, Jordan Calvert of Red Deer and Nash and Nathan Calvert of Beaumont, Alberta; and by his extended family, Bob and Erna Laszlo of Red Deer; Cindy Laszlo of Red Deer; and July Figueroa of Querétaro, Mexico. Zoli was born in Het, Hungary on November 4, 1937. He arrived in Canada on April 13, 1957. His early years were spent working at various jobs throughout British Columbia and Alberta, finally arriving in the Yukon Territory to work for Cassiar Asbestos Corporation. During his time in the Yukon, Zoli studied for and became a certified journeyman diesel mechanic. In 1975, he met his life partner, Velda and they lived together in Whitehorse, YT until 1980. In 1980, Zoli moved his family to Red Deer where he lived the rest of his days tending to his home and garden. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 - 45 Street, Red Deer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Zoli's honour may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, Suite 101, 6751 - 52 Avenue, Red Deer, AB T4N 4K8.
