I wish to alert citizens of central Alberta with a scam/fraud that I, a senior, experienced recently.
I was contacted from Star Lottery, (although I had never subscribed to the lottery) through the office of the “Government Secretary” that I had won a Mercedes Benz and a large amount of money to be delivered the next day, with cameras and RCMP present.
All I needed was two gift cards for a total of $900 that I was to give to the RCMP member – but would get back. “Pastor” W blessed me.
After phoning the RCMP about this scam I learned that they don’t come to your home. They want the 16 digit number/info on the back of the gift card, given over the phone. Be aware of this scam.
