Letter: Blame the government for Covid doom and gloom

I have now for a year watched people live in fear terror and it is time Canadians and Albertans opened their eyes.

Not one person is disputing that the virus out there that has affected the entire is world is not serious, but that our leaders and medical big wigs have done nothing except panic and panic people.

Let’s look at the doom and gloom team and no titles will be used as they don’t deserve to be used.

Justin Trudeau: Who knew the virus was spreading in late 2019 but he did nothing to prepare our country or our citizens. January and February 2020 he knew this virus was in Italy and moving on through Europe and he did nothing. Mid-March the virus hits his beloved Quebec and Ontario and suddenly there is a problem and we shut the country down.

Jason Kenny: Close the province, open the province, close the province, open the province. Stay home no Christmas with family, yet UCP officials are travelling. Why are hospitals overloaded? No hospital has ever been built that has enough ICU beds under normal circumstances let alone a crisis situation.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw: Most people wear the same masks for months on end and that is not sanitary or stopping the spread of anything.

Tara Veer and city council: Made masks mandatory for Red Deer residents when there was no need. We are a city of almost 100,000 people and less than one per cent of our city at the top most (late February) has been affected by this virus.

We need to get this country opened up. We are way behind other countries. Why? Government.

Joy Barlow, Red Deer

Editor’s note: Health Canada and Alberta Health Services recommend mask wearing and personal preventative practices such as hand washing to bend the COVID-19 curve.
