Letter: Don’t need permanent Daylight Savings Time

While I agree that it is well past time to scrap the twice yearly Daylight Savings Time dance and I welcome that it be put to a vote by Albertans, who decided that going with permanent DST is the proper way to go?

While I agree that it is well past time to scrap the twice yearly Daylight Savings Time dance and I welcome that it be put to a vote by Albertans, who decided that going with permanent DST is the proper way to go?

Why is there no option to vote for keeping with Mountain Standard Time which has worked perfectly well since 1883?

In Alberta’s north with DST in effect on Dec. 21, it will be somewhere around 10:30 a.m. before it starts to get light in the morning. It seems somewhat selfish for people who live in Calgary to vote for permanent DST so they can cut their grass at 10:00 p.m. in the middle of summer once a week or so, at the expense of people who have to work outside every day that will have to work in the dark for almost half a day.

C’mon Alberta! Long live MST!
