Letter: Giving $100 to unvaccinated wrong decision

We are all tired of COVID, but I understand the need to go back to the masks.

However it seems Premier Jason Kenney is wanting to congratulate and reward those people who are causing us to go back to the masks – those that were too lazy, too fearful, too self-important to not get the vaccine shots when they should have.

I just heard that the Alberta government is going to reward those people who get their vaccine shots between Sept. 3 and Oct. 14 with a one-time $100 gift card (registration required!). Well ain’t that a slap in the face to those of us who did our civic duty when the vaccines first came out and got our shots.

From what I hear on news reports it is the unvaccinated that are causing this rise in COVID-positive cases, Delta-variant, with many of them having to be treated in hospitals. It’s hard to feel sorry for people who refused the treatment but who are now getting sick saying, “It’s not my fault!” I got the disease. Why should they be rewarded with $100? Sometimes I think Kenney and his government are tired of “running” Alberta and are trying to get kicked out! Well, here’s the door Jason!
