Letter: Ironic outcome in next provincial election

Irony is the outcome of an event or action being the exact opposite to which one is working hard to prevent.

Irony is the outcome of an event or action being the exact opposite to which one is working hard to prevent.

It appears a clear and strong motivator for the individuals to be not-vaccinated is the perception of government’s imposition of inappropriate interference with one’s individual rights and freedoms. Thus, these individuals refuse to vaccinate. This moral action which is a right of democracy yet not necessarily an ethical action, has and is reverberating within the large and tolerant population of Alberta.

The result in the next provincial election may be a resounding victory for a political party that more values the position of big government with reduced individual rights. If that should occur these non-vaccinated individuals can have a good look in the mirror and thank themselves. It would be ironic.
