Letter: Politicians flunking in pandemic response

Canada’s pandemic response is deeply flawed.

Canada’s pandemic response is deeply flawed.

It is a dismal failure, and getting worse. Our prime minister and our eleven premiers have collectively shown very poor judgement in their planning to confront the Covid-19 pandemic. Obviously, having no special training and no experience with a pandemic at all, our leaders easily underestimated the economic and personal devastation it could cause, not to mention the medical aspect.

Surely, they all now know what doesn’t work, and they need to do an about-face and admit their ignorance. But will they ? Not so far.

They were offered direction from Canada’s real public emergency experts but they turned it down. Why? I suppose, because they are politicians, and they wanted to use the event to show leadership and appear as national heroes. They wanted to come to our rescue.

Our Premier Jason Kenney needs to stand up and admit his mistake.
