Many have framed the closure of GraceLife Church near Edmonton by Alberta Health Services as an issue of religious freedom. It is not.

No one is saying you can’t believe and worship as you choose. Health restrictions are a temporary limitation on gathering in-person. They apply to all faith groups in Alberta, and many other activities.

Religious freedom is not under threat. Libraries are closed too, but that doesn’t mean the government is taking away my freedom to read books.
