Regarding the article by Jura Koncius 5 Things to know about space heaters

One important item is missing from this article (no mention of a tip over safety device) otherwise it was a good article.

As a Chief Safety Officer during inspections of construction sites I found in cold weather the use of various types of portable electrical space heaters. Many heaters were found in poor shape because of mishandling, lack of maintenance and storage, also many lacked a tip over safety switch that would cut off power to the unit. All defective heaters were tagged out until

repaired or removed from the site by the contractor. Newer electrical space heaters have this tip over device installed. However some cheap imported units still can be found without this safety device. In selecting an electrical or other heat sourced heater you should read all the information before you buy the unit. If you own a unit that lacks a tip over switch you can have one installed by an electrician.

NOTE: Electrical heaters with a tip over device should be tested during first use to insure it is working properly.
