As a Red Deer senior citizen, I wish to say thank you to all my fellow residents who are not seniors.

Thank you for the personal, financial and family sacrifices you are making out of concern for my health and that of my fellow seniors.

The facts are that the majority of folks who die from COVID-19 are of my generation. While many of us have been affected by the isolation which has led to loneliness and depression, we have not suffered financially the way you have – all of you – from school age going up to retirement age have been called on to make life changing sacrifices.

If you didn’t care for others, especially parents and grandparents, you wouldn’t be following the public health protocols like handwashing, social distancing and wearing masks.

Thank you so much for making these choices, which so far, have kept me and many others of my generation from illness and death.

Stuart Fraser, Red Deer
