Why bother plow?

First of all I would like to say that I appreciate the City of Red Deer’s maintenance department’s efforts to make our city more passable for vehicular traffic after what has been a pretty nasty winter season, especially well done were the bus routes which were, for the most part, scraped down to bare pavement and melted right off in a matter of days.

However, when they came later on and plowed the residential streets on the North end anyway, I really have to ask why they even bothered to waste their time and tax payer dollars doing so. In my entire neighbourhood, they simply skimmed the snow pack on the streets to the same level as the height of the sidewalk and left approximately 10 to 12 cm of snow on the streets behind. During the recent warm up just before this last snow dump, this 10 to 12 cm of snow that the city graders had left behind had softened and was rutting so badly that most of the streets in the Glendale area were becoming so rough that they were almost impassable. So I wonder, why they bothered in the first place? They say it’s for emergency vehicle traffic, but they left so much snow behind I seriously wonder why they bothered at all. Gordon Street and Gillespie Crescent are rutted so deeply that you have to do about five km an hour on them or risk damaging your vehicle. If they are going to take the time and effort to come and do that, it would be nice if they would scrape to the pavement like they did on the bus routes, or at least get the snow down to five cm or so.

Send Putin a message

I am going to comment on Russia and the poisonings.

In my opinion Russia (Putin) is running rampant over the free world and feels that he can do as he wishes. Look at Syria, Georgia and the Ukraine, and other areas for examples, along with his drugging the Russian athletes with his win at all costs attitude. He threatens us with new nuclear weapons, which we don’t know if he has them or but using Trump’s playbook it has to leave us with some serious questions. Does he or doesn’t he?

I feel that it’s time for all of the free world to support the U.K. verbally and with some action and expel a good portion or Russian diplomats to send Putin a strong message that the free world will not bow down to him and that we are together and to also sanction the country until they (Putin) listen.

Are we going to keep moving the red line in the sand backwards or forward? The world has a dangerous situation on their hands because of this man and the nuclear button.
