There’s no reason MPs couldn’t have rejected pay hike

Parliament members donating raises to charity runs shallow, and to suggest nothing could be done to prevent the automatic pay raises fails the litmus test.

Parliament members donating raises to charity runs shallow, and to suggest nothing could be done to prevent the automatic pay raises fails the litmus test.

A one line supplement could have been added to any of the emergency funding bills recently passed to freeze all members of Parliament’s pay raises.

Diverting the raise to a charitable cause, although noteworthy, is simply a shallow attempt at saving face.

Shame on every member of Parliament who was silent in this time of global crisis, and chose not to address this mandated raise while millions of Canadians stay at home with temporary or permanent layoffs, wondering if they can make their next rent or mortgage payment.

All of you, each and every one of you, has been caught with your hand in the cookie jar.
