After two days of chuckwagons at the Westerner, Lee Adamson has developed a one second lead on two competitors.
Adamson improved on his opening night 1:19.10 with a 1:16 Thursday night. Kevin Desjarlais and Brian Miller had similar times in a night that was noticeably faster for the field than the opening night on Wednesday. Desjarlais came in second and Miller came in third.
The Red Deer Motors North American Pony Chuckwagon Championship wrapped up its second night at the Westerner Days on Thursday evening.
Neil Sammond finished the night in fourth while Reed Rosencrans finished in fifth Thursday night.
After two days, Adamson (2:35) is one second ahead of both Desjarlais and Dale Young at 2:36. Keith Wood is in fourth place while Cole Adamson is in fifth
The final heat proved to be the fastest in the opening night of the chuckwagons. Three of the four racers in the heat finished the night in the top five.
Adamson led his heat and the field of 56 with a time of 1:19.02. Young, also in the final heat, is tied for second with a time of 1:19.10. Ryan Braaten tied with Young from the third heat of the night.
Wood, who was a part of that fast final heat, is in fourth place with a time of 1:19.48.
Rounding out the top five is Adamson, who in the ninth heat had a time of 1:19.52.
Hundredths of a second separate Adamson from sixth place Desjarlais, who had a time in the 10th heat of 1:19.52.
Round three of the Red Deer Motors North American Pony Chuckwagon Championships go tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Westerner.
