The Alberta Basketball Association is trying to keep young ballers in game shape during isolation due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Friday, the organization announced and launched a new online program called Hoops at Home, encouraging players to sharpen their skills and knowledge through a series of online videos.

“We want to add our voice to being part of the solution to stay active and keep our passion for the game of basketball alive. Basketball is a game for life and we can have it remain a part of our daily routine as we work together to get through these challenging days,” said ABA Executive Director Paul Sir.

The program features video components for families, players and coaches. It is aimed to build knowledge, skill development, physical activity and foster togetherness during the crisis while families are isolated.

The videos will provide viewers with drills and exercises they can do at home, instruction and tips for coaches, and games and activities that can fun for everyone. They will feature former Canadian basketball star Steve Sir, community mentor Ethan Sir and award-winning coach Reagan Wood.
