ASAA Tier I and II handball provincials to be held in central Alberta this week

The Alberta Schools Athletic Association Tier I and II handball provincial championships will be held in central Alberta this week.

Beginning on Thursday the Tier I competition will begin at Notre Dame High School meanwhile Tier II will be played in Lacombe at Central AB Christian High School and the Lacombe Composite High School.

At Notre Dame, both girls and boys will play at the school with the first game commencing at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 between Salisbury and Bev Facey (Sherwood Park).

Red Deer high schools including Lindsay Thurber and Notre Dame will have both senior girls and boys teams playing in the tournament. Meanwhile, Hunting Hills will have their senior boys’ team competing.

Games will continue throughout the day until Saturday with the girls’ gold medal game at 5:30 p.m. and the boys at 8:30 p.m.

In Tier II action, Central Alberta Christian High School will have both girls’ and boys’ teams playing. Other schools out of central Alberta include Bentley, New Norway, and Notre Dame.

Play will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and will continue until the gold medal matches at 3 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.
