The Red Deer Bantam AAA Rebels made a statement to open the second round of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League playoffs.

In the series opener with the Southeast Tigers Sunday at Servus Arena, Red Deer exploded for eight goals in an 8-2 win.

Red Deer went up 2-1 in the first period and led 6-2 after 40 minutes.

Spencer Claerhout and Josh Perreault each scored a pair in the victory, while Nate Thompson, Colby Joye, Talon Brigley, Harrison Lodewyk and Quinn Sampson-Goodman all had goals. Mavry Fluet picked up the victory in net.

The series shifts to Medicine Hat Tuesday, with Game back in Red Deer Wednesday if necessary.
