The Red Deer Bantam AAA Rebels were an immovable object that ran into an unstoppable force on the weekend.

After running a wild undefeated streak that started in November and lastest almost four months in the Alberta Bantam AAA Hockey League, the Rebels lost a pair of games on the weekend.

Red Deer opened the best-of-five provincial championship series on home ice and lost a pair of games to the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers, who had just five regular season losses this year.

Fort Saskatchewan won both games in the best-of-five series 4-2 on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday, the Rebels went ahead 2-0 with goals from Tyler MacKenzie and Ty Daneault. The Rangers scored once in the second and then buried three times in the final frame to earn the victory.

In Game 2, the Rebels led 2-1 after 40 minutes with a first-period goal from Nolan Larson and second period tally by Daneault. Three third period goals from the visitors sunk the Rebels again and put them down two games in the series heading to Fort Saskatchewan.

Game 3 and 4 are in Fort Saskatchewan on March 23 and 24. If necessary, Game 5 is back in Red Deer on March 26.
