Bentley Firefighters Foundation hosting Bickford memorial golf tourney

Bentley Firefighters Foundation is hosting the Justin Bickford Memorial Mini Golf Tournament at Summerland Leisure RV Park Mini Golf and Driving Range on Aug. 20 from noon to 4 p.m.

Bentley Firefighters Foundation is hosting the Justin Bickford Memorial Mini Golf Tournament at Summerland Leisure RV Park Mini Golf and Driving Range on Aug. 20 from noon to 4 p.m.

Proceeds will go to Justin Bickford Memorial Scholarship to support a deserving Bentley student.

Bickford, 13, was the son of two Bentley firefighters, and died of cancer in April from cancer.

Diagnosed with cancer at eight, Bickford was a courageous boy who loved reaching out to others in need.

The annual $1,000 bursary program was developed by the Bentley Firefighters Foundation to help a student who is kind, considerate, responsive and shows compassion and empathy for others.

The cost of a mini golf game at the tournament is $5 per person. A 50-50 draw will be held. Face painting and a bouncy castle will be on site, along with hotdogs, chips and pop.

Since 2009, Bentley Firefighters Foundation has supported both the Bentley Fire Department and the local community to improve the quality of life for residents in Bentley and surrounding area.

Summerland park is located 11 km west of Lacombe at Range Road 28-2 and Hwy 12, across from the Village of Gull Lake.
