Blackfalds Bulldogs split two-game set

They’re now 4-3 in the regular season

The Blackfalds Bulldogs continued their solid start to their season on Saturday defeating the Whitecourt Wolverines 6-2 in their final matchup of the AJHL Showcase at the Eagle Builders Centre.

Jason Siedem took the lead for the Bulldogs in the first period before Connor Dick added another in the middle frame to take a 2-0 lead. The Wolverines make a comeback scoring two of their own in the second period.

However, in the final period, Blackfalds scored four straight goals to win the game. Tyler Wallace scored twice while Tyler Teasdale and Jayden Joly each had a goal.

Goaltender Charlie Zolin had an incredible game where he made 34 saves on 36 shots.

On Tuesday the Bulldogs hit the road to take on the Drumheller Dragons but the trip didn’t go as hoped in a 6-3 loss.

After the Bulldogs took a 3-1 lead in the second period, Drumheller scored five unanswered goals to secure the victory.

Tanner Willick, Layne Loomer, and Jason Siedem all scored for the Bulldogs in the loss. Goaltender Matthew Hennessey made 35 saves on 41 shots.

The Bulldogs are now 4-3 on the season and will play two games this weekend. Firstly, in Fort McMurray Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and in Bonnyville on Saturday at 7 p.m.
