Blackfalds Bulldogs captain Brett Meerman had a stretch of games to remember last week.

His performance of two goals and four assists through two games earned him Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) Player of the Week honours.

The 20-year-old Blackfalds native began the week with a two-goal, two-assist game where they beat the Calgary Canucks 6-3 on Feb. 3. In that same game Meerman scored his fifth game-winning goal of the year.

The next night he celebrated his birthday with a 5-1 win over the Canucks. The forward contributed two assists to extend his point streak to five games.

Meerman is also having a career season sitting third in the AJHL scoring race with 73 points en route to clinching a playoff spot in the AJHL’s South Division.

The Bulldogs have 10 games remaining and are riding a two-game winning streak after beating Calgary twice this month.

Coming up the Bulldogs will play against the Canmore Eagles at home Friday night at 7 p.m. and will welcome the league-best Brooks Bandits on Saturday night at 6 p.m. in front of a sold-out crowd.
