Calgary Inferno to play Toronto Furies in Red Deer

Game set for Female Hockey Day on Dec. 15

A pair of professional women’s hockey teams will play in Red Deer next weekend as a part of Female Hockey Day.

The Calgary Inferno will take on the Toronto Furies on Dec. 15 at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre with puck drop set for 7 p.m.

The two Canadian Women’s Hockey League teams feature a combined 14 Olympians including members of the Canadian silver medal winning team and the gold-medal U.S.A. squad. Inferno forwards Brianne Jenner, Rebecca Johnston, and Blayre Turnbull all played for Canada along with defenceman Brigette Lacquette. For the Furies, Natalie Spooner and defenceman Renata Fast also represented Canada.

The Female Hockey Day festivities will be hosted by Hockey Alberta and will take place throughout the day Saturday.

There will be player development sessions, Try Hockey sessions, A Game Day Speaker and a female officials clinic.
