Canada ties Norway

HAMAR, Norway — Cecilie Pedersen scored in the 75th minute Thursday to give Norway a 1-1 tie with the Canadian women’s soccer team.

The goal came six minutes after Josee Belanger scored off a corner to put Canada ahead. Sophie Schmidt found Kelly Parker who beat a defender before sending a low cross into the box.

The tie is just Canada’s second against eight career losses to the Norwegian women. The Canadians have never beaten Norway.

Norway is currently ranked sixth in the world, compared to No. 11 for Canada.

The Canadian team has been training in Norway, following a camp in the Washington, D.C. area.
