Catalina pick up Medium Team Award at Spring Provincials

The Red Deer Catalina Swim Club earned high marks at the 2018 Alberta Spring Championships in Edmonton on the weekend.

The Red Deer Catalina Swim Club earned high marks at the 2018 Alberta Spring Championships in Edmonton on the weekend.

Nineteen swimmers helped the club win the Swim Alberta Medium Team Award banner at the event.

Kyla Leibel picked up the FINA High Point Award and several other teammates were medalists. Leibel won gold in five races, including the 100 metre backstroke, 200m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly.

Elizabeth Moore also brought home a collection of medals from the meet. She earned a gold in the 200m breaststroke, silver in the 100 and 200m butterfly as well as the 100m breaststroke. She also won bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Leibel and Moore teammed up with Claire Halford and Brooklyn Wiens for a silver medal in the 400m medley relay. Wiens also won silver in the 50m butterfly.

Hidde Geurts won bronze in the 50m fresstyle, Cale Kooyman was a silver medalist in the 50 breaststroke and Delaney Lehman earned bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Ocean Roos won bronze in both the 200m butterfly and 800m freestyle, while River Roos brought home gold in the 1500m freestyle and silver in the 400m freestyle.
