The Central Alberta Buccaneers sailed smoothly to another win in Alberta Football League action.

In their first game at Great Chief Park since 2019 and the bleachers packed with fans, the Bucs rolled over the Airdrie Irish 43-6 to move to 2-0 in the four-game AFL season.

It was another banner night for quarterback Brandon Leyh, who threw for six touchdowns in the victory. Both Mark Leyh and Axsivier Lawrence each added two touchdowns and Tylor Johannesson added one.

The Bucs will have a bye week on the August long weekend, before returning to Great Chief Park on Aug. 7 to take on the Cold Lake Fighter Jets. They’ll wrap up the regular season against the Edmonton Elite on Aug. 14.
