Central Alberta female golfers with strong showing at provincial and national events

Lacombe’s Lynn Kuehn managed a top-five finish this week at the Alberta Senior Ladies Championship in Lethbridge.

Kuehn had four birdies in her first 10 holes in the final round Thursday of the 56-hole championship and got within two strokes of the lead before finishing fourth.

Representing the Lacombe Golf and Country Club, Kuehn finished the week with a plus-14, seven strokes back of winner Kim Carrington. Kuehn saved her best round for last Thursday, with a 76. She shot 80 in the opening round and 77 in the second.

Red Deer’s Eileen Park also had a strong showing at her first-ever Canadian Junior Championship in Leduc. The 12-year-old fired a three-round score of plus-16, leaving her tied for 27th.

She shot a 74 in the opening round, followed by an 80 in the second and a 78 Thursday. She was one of the youngest golfers in the field at the event.

Next up for Park is the Canadian Women’s Amateur from July 27-30 at the Edmonton Petroleum Club.
